TREND ALERT 🚨 Balanced strawberry blonde 🍓 Here’s the breakdown: The “raw” pattern... An example of what a true hand painted balayage (no foiling, no backcombing, and no root shadowing) looks like after fully processing, before we wash and tone. True story, I wanted to use the 9/04 but was out, so I improvised with what I had and found a new favorite formula! After I washed out her lightener, I toned all over with a 8/42 and a 10/31 (1:2 5 volume +ph changer) for a balanced copper or strawberry blonde, without looking too red or gold. To break down this formula from @alteregoitalynorthamerica, it’s a level 9 copper and gold, with both blue and violet undertones to control the amount of warmth. This client has cooler undertones, so we wanted more of a cool cooper vs a gold copper. I hope this makes sense! Loving this 2025 trend! The great thing about this look, is the toner will eventually fade, so we can play with different tones each time! Is it time for you to shake up your blonde?! Here are a few professional tips to help with dry scalp… ✨ Turn down the heat! -Both in the shower and on your blow drier ✨Use a light conditioner and a gentle moisturizing shampoo -Look for sulfate and chloride free shampoos and don’t forget to use the conditioner on your scalp ✨Exfoliate your scalp -You can always book a scalp treatment in the salon to exfoliate and massage in scalp products! ✨Oil treatments -Try using rosemary oil, jajoba, coconut, avocado or neem seed oil on the scalp at a treatment BEFORE shampooing. Leave on 10-20 min, shampoo out. ✨Hydrate 💧 -Not just your hair and scalp, but internally as well. Our scalp after all is skin, so if the rest of your skin is dry, so is your scalp. Try to drink half your body weight in oz a day! (Easier said than done) Tip: If home remedies don’t work, consult a dermatologist to rule out conditions like dandruff, eczema, or psoriasis, and ask about treatments such as medicated shampoos or scalp treatments. Dry flakes aren’t necessarily dandruff. It’s most likely just dry scalp. Harsh chemicals that treat dandruff can make dry scalp worse when used regularly. Dandruff, eczema and psoriasis are all medical conditions that require specific treatment. Letting your natural gray grow in doesn’t need to be scary, you just need the right stylist. My method, is to slowly highlight through your color and low light through your gray. First visits about 75%, next few visits are 50%, turning into 25% coverage. Then, if you’re ready for it, you can go 100% natural, but this way you don’t have any harsh lines when it grows in. I was told when I first started doing hair, to change everyone’s base color, even if they don’t ask. This way, they’ll need you to color their hair in 4-6 weeks. This didn’t align with me, or my style. If I can create value for my clients, having them come in less often, and when they do come in, it’s a larger appointment, doesn’t that benefit us both? It may not make sense to every client, or stylist, and this look isn’t for everyone, but that’s why there’s a different stylist out there for everyone 😉 With this client in particular, she doesn’t mind the concentration of gray in the front, so we add tiny highlights to the rest of her hair to create less contrast and lighten her hair, without having harsh lines of her level 4 base next to the grays. I’m pleased to announce that I will be moving to a new, larger window space within Sola Salons, located at the Santa Clara-Benton location on the corner of El Camino Real and Benton Ave (not to be confused with my old Santa Clara location). This new space offers an abundance of natural sunlight—perfect for creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere! New Location Starting January 21st: Sola Salons 580 El Camino Real, Suite #6 Santa Clara, CA 95050 I’m incredibly excited about this next chapter and the opportunities it brings. Along with the new space, I will be offering additional services, including new classes, and welcoming an assistant to help launch their career in this industry. I will also be adding earlier hours and adjusting my available days in the months to come, so please be sure to check my calendar for updated availability. Thank you so much for your continued support and flexibility, especially throughout my transition back to California! Foils on foils on foils… I like to start my full highlights off with a 10 volume, and work my way up, 15 volume, 20 volume etc, each time I re mix (about every 15g). This way the front will catch up to the back and there’s no over processing on where I started. Toned with @alteregoitalynorthamerica Techno Fruit: 20g 10/1 20g 10/2 and 10g 10/31 1:2 5volume with 5g Ph balancer to ensure there’s no lift of her natural base color between the foils. Being a hairstylist isn’t an easy job, it’s physically, mentally, and emotionally draining. There’s no paid vacations or sick days, no retirement funds unless you create on yourself, no health insurance benefit discounts from an employer, no work from your home office option when really you’re at brunch, and there’s rarely a lunch or bathroom break because every minute is a dollar. But it’s also an extremely rewarding career, and I get to wake up in the morning, knowing I’m working for myself and helping others feel better about themselves on top of it all.
